FRESH FIG SMOOTHIE
This fibre and pre-biotic packed smoothie not only tastes great but delivers natural doses of iron, calcium and vitamins B6, A and C.
Ingredients
- 1/2 a ripe banana
- 4 small or two large figs (fresh, sliced in half)
- 7 to 8 ounces of Greek-style yogurt
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup of milk (depending on desired consistency)
- Cinnamon
Steps
- Cut the tips of the fig stems off, slice in half and add to a blender or small food processor
- Add the banana half, Greek-style yogurt, honey, salt and 1/4 cup of the milk to the blender.
- Puree until smooth and continue adding milk if you’d like a thinner consistency.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon

FIG & MUESLI
Fresh Figs are a real treat and there’s no better way to enjoy them than combining them with yogurt on your favourite cereal.
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup vanilla yoghurt
- 1 fresh Cadenza fig, quartered
- 1/2 cup of your favourite muesli
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- Honey, to drizzle
Steps
- Pour yoghurt into a breakfast bowl. Top with figs, muesli and mint leaves. Drizzle with honey.


FIG & RICOTTA PIZZA
Fresh figs add a new dimension to pizza toppings. Blending sweet and salty flavours with cheese and herbs can creates decadent, yet healthy pizza options.
Ingredients
- 350 grams of refrigerated fresh pizza dough
- 3/4 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/3 cup reduced-fat sour cream
- 2 tablespoons of fresh cream
- 1/8 teaspoon of rock salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- Greaseproof paper
- 1 teaspoon of virgin olive oil
- 5 fresh Eleganza figs, quartered
- half a sliced red onion
- 100 grams of chopped ham
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 2 teaspoons of balsamic glaze
Steps
- Place a pizza stone in oven; preheat to 250 degrees
- Let pizza dough stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Combine ricotta cheese, sour cream, cream, salt, and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper in a bowl.
- Flour a sheet of greaseproof paper
- Working on the greaseproof, stretch dough into a 30cm circle.
- Brush with the dough with olive oil
- Spread ricotta mixture over dough, leaving 2cm around the edges.
- Top with figs, onion, and ham.
- Slide onto a pizza peel, then onto the pizza stone in oven.
- Oven bake for 12 minutes
- Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves, salt, and black pepper to taste.
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze.
